The historic, riverside town of Tewkesbury is the setting for this self guided walking short break. Tucked away in the Gloucestershire countryside, Tewkesbury is full of long narrow alleys and streets that take you on a journey back into the Medieval times. Together, the old mills and impressive stonework of the Tewkesbury Abbey offer a gateway to discover the local history. There is also a selection of gorgeous riverside walks that visit an Medieval battlefield, a Saxon chapel and a vast selection of traditional English Inns.

Walk 1 - Follow the Severn Way across the Medieval battlefield that saw the end of the War of the Roses to the wonderful Saxon chapel at Deerhurst. Cross the river at Haw Bridge and walk through Chaceley and Forthampton on your return. This walk passes no fewer than five delightful riverside inns, so be sure to stop for a drink and take in the views.

Walk 2 - Head north past the ancient Towbury Hill Fort to Twyning on the banks of the Avon. Here you can have lunch at the one of the many riverside inns before taking the little ferry across to the village of Bredon for a look around the majestic Tithe Barn. (Not on 2 night option).

Walk 3 - Head north by the Severn for a walk that takes you back to the best of traditional English country life. Stroll through parkland around a public school, watch cricket played on the village green and then enjoy fine views across Tewkesbury on the way back. (Not on not on 2 or 3 night).
