Day 2 - Fly to Lukla then Trek to Phakding. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse.
In the early morning you will have a mountain flight to Lukla (2,840m) with spectacular views of Gauri Shankar (7,135m), Melungtse (7,181m) and Numbur (6,959m), which takes you to the gateway at Everest Base Camp and the land of Sherpas. The trek then heads northwards through the village of Lukla, descending to Ghat along the east bank of the Dudh Koshi, followed by a gentle climb and a level meandering walk to Phakding. Awaiting you are great views of Kusum Kanguru (6,367m) and Sherpa hospitality.

Day 3 - Namche Bazaar. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse. The trail climbs through forests of rhododendron and giant pines to the small village of Jorsale. Shortly after completing check post formalities, we cross the Dudh Koshi via a suspension bridge to start a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. During this ascend, weather conditions permitting, we encounter our first sight of Everest and Lhotse. Namche Bazaar, 'Sherpa Capital', is situated in a crescent amphitheatre that towers above two great rivers; Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi, and offers a stunning view of the mountains across the valley.

Day 4 - Namche Bazaar. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse.
Today is an acclimation day to allow us to adjust to the high altitude. Explore the local market, observe the local culture, walk up to the Everest viewpoint or simply relax. After, there is time available to make an excursion to either the village of Thamo or Syangboche.

Day 5 – Tyangboche. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse. The trail ascends out of the village and follows a fairly flat path along the valley with stunning views of Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse coming into view. After crossing the river we climb up a zigzagging path through a rhododendron forest where we may encounter both musk deer and wild colourful peacocks. The climb steepens as we approach Tyangboche, which opens up to breathtaking views of Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Taboche. There is time to visit both the monastery and museum in Tyangboche.

Day 6 – Tyangboche. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse. A day to explore Tyangboche and its famous monastery. The monastery is en route to Everest Base Camp and Everest mountaineers visit here to light candles and seek blessings of gods for a safe and healthy passage. We join the monks in the evening for prayer and light our own candles seeking blessings for ourselves. Close by in Deboche is the Nunnery which is administered by Tyangboche Monastery.

Day 7 – Khumjung. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse. From Tyangboche, head uphill towards the large Khumjung valley, which foots the Khumbi Yul Lha - a sacred mountain for the Sherpas, we come to rest at Khumjung. En route there are excellent views of Taboche, Thamserku and Kangtega.

Day 8 – Lukla. Stay overnight in a Lodge/Teahouse. The trail continues to descend, taking us through Namche Bazaar and passing under the imposing Kongde ridge (6,186m). We continue along the banks of Dudh Koshi to Phakding. We then retrace our steps to Lukla along the east bank of the Dudh Koshi. Time to relax and reflect on the truly amazing days since arriving in Lukla, and enjoy Sherpa hospitality.
