Dolomite High Route – Alps Walking Tour

This walking tour in the Dolomites, Italy will take you over the high route. It is one of the most beautiful long distance hiking trail as the fascinating scenic impression of the world famous Dolomites.

The route leads through three language areas and cultures, starting in the German-speaking Pustertal, leading through the Ladin-speaking Fanes area and southern of Passo Falz-rego and finally the Italian language. This tour has a seven day, six night itinerary.

Day 1 - Individual arrival to Niederdorf/Toblach. 

Day 2 - Niederdorf/Toblach to Sennes/Fodara. Starting from Pragser Wildsee, the pearl of the Dolomite lakes, you walk through the romantic nature park of 'Fanes Sennes Prags', which is one of the biggest areas in South Tyrol. In the shadow of imposing massif Seekofel you reach the Dolomite high route nr. 1, the Seekofel hut and afterwards the Sennes hut respectively the Fodara Vedla.

Day 3 - Sennes/Fodara to Pocol/Cortina. Today you start your tour from the Sennes hut which offers a great panorama onto some of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites including Hohe Gaisl, Cristallo, Sorapis and Tofane. Walk through meadows and mountain pines across the Dolomites and after a circuit tour around mountain Tofane, the most well-known local mountain in Cortina you will reach Pocol/Cortina.

Day 4 - Round tour of Pocol/Cortina. Today you are going to do a circular walk around the famous Cortina Dolomites such as: Cinque Torri, Nuvolau, Lagazuoi and Tofane. Below the Cinque Torri you can still see remains of an outdoor museum with replicas of firing positions of the battles in the First World War between Austria and Italy.

Day 5 - Pocol/Cortina to Passo Staulanza. Start the day with a short transfer to Passo Falzarego. From there you reach Passo Giau with its beautiful panorama view of the Alps and the crossing Ambrizzola. The rich flora of the Alps is accompanying you on your way through meadows and Alps towards south. In front of you the biggest peak of the Dolomites, Monte Pelmo is located. On the foot of this mountain they found fossilised footprints of dinosaurs!

Day 6 - Passo Staulanza to Alleghe and Niederdorf/Toblach. Another highlight is awaiting you at the entrance of the next nature park, Monte Civetta. You will have an awesome view over the heart of the Dolomites from there. In the north a great wall with an altitude of 1000m and a length of 4 kilometres is located. The day ends in Alleghe. You will then be transfered back to Niederdorf/Toblach.

Day 7 - Individual departure or additional stay
