Today marks 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter!

Monday 26th June 2017 marks the 20th Anniversary since the iconic Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone book was published, can you believe it?! The famous magical stories were first created in a small cafe in Edinburgh and they soon started a global phenomenon with a major film franchise and more recently a theatre production in London.

Did you know that all of the Harry Potter films were filmed right here in the UK with locations including London, Oxford and even Gloucestershire? The iconic Gloucestershire Cathedral provided a historical backdrop to scenes in the Philosopher’s Stone and the Chamber of Secrets. The stunning Lacock Abbey located near Bath was also used in scenes of the magical franchise as a potions class!

With 2017 marking the Year of Literary Legends, we thought it would be an excellent idea to share our Gloucestershire tours with you so you can discover the magic of the Cathedral and of course the stunning countryside the county has to offer.

Our Gloucestershire walking and cycling breaks takes you through beautiful villages where stone cottages and thatched houses are nestled. Although some of our tours are based in the town of Tewkesbury, it is within close distance to the city of Gloucester where you can plan to visit the Cathedral.
