New National Parks may be launched in the UK

A number of new national parks could be launched in the UK to help safeguard and protect our stunning English landscapes for future generations. This news comes after the environment secretary, Michael Gove launched a review to look into expanding the network or protected areas to meet the needs of modern life.

The review also explored whether visitor access to the parks will be improved and more importantly initiatives on how to boost and support wildlife.

Currently there are 10 national parks in the UK and 34 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ranging from the Lake District to the Cotswolds; both of which are available to explore through Compass Holidays.

The review has been welcomed by both National Parks England and the National Association of AONBs.
