Movies to inspire your UK adventure
From Regency England to the Jurassic Coast, there are some exciting movies coming to the big screen in 2020 that will be sure to inspire your next adventure in the UK.
Jane Austen's Emma | Release Date: 14 February
The film adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma will be gracing our cinema screens this February. The 19th century drama has several historic backdrops that are located across the UK such as Chavenage House in Tetbury as well as the village of Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds. Starting in Chipping Campden you can explore a range of historic villages before ending in the spa town of Bath, which was in fact Jane Austen's home.
The Secret Garden | Release Date: 13 April
We all remember the first screen adaptation of The Secret Garden and this year the story based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett is set to excite the child in all of us once more.Although set in North Yorkshire, the garden scenes for the 2020 film, which includes Colin Firth and Julie Walters as the cast, is a mixture of several gardens around the UK. The stunning sub-tropical Trebah Gardens in south Cornwall and the mystical Puzzlewood in Gloucestershire will both be instantly recognisable on the big screen. Ammonite | Release Date: 2020 TBC
Starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, Ammonite is a romantic drama set on the Dorset coast during the 19th century. Focussing on the life and love affairs of a palaeontologist, the film will feature the Jurassic Coast heavily including the town of Lyme Regis, cobbled beaches and coastal views.
