Many of the plant and animal species found here are threatened by extinction and have found a refuge here.  the ride continues through unspoilt nature following the banks of the river Loisach to Garmisch Partenkirchen.  This stage is intentionally short so there is enough time for an individual trip on the Zugspitzbahn, a mountain railway.  At an altitude of 2962 meters there are wonderful views of the Alps.
Distance approx 40 km (25 miles)

Day 4:  Garmisch Partenkirchen to Wallgau

Ornate mansions testify to this golden age.
