Lisbon to Sagres Cycling Holiday

Day 1: Arrival in Lisbon - Arrive and enjoy the glamour, history and vibrant culture of Lisbon. A visit to 'Alfama' is recommended during your time in Lisbon.

Day 2: Lisbon to Costa da Caparica - Start your cycling journey along the Tagus River. The area offers opportunities for leisure and culture, from Parque das Nacoes along the riverfront passing Parca do Comercio - Lisbon's most iconic square. On route to Belem enjoy stunning architecture, museums, monuments and a variety of restaurants. You will leave Lisbon in Belem and take a ferry boat to Trafaria where you can enjoy the wonderful views over Lisbon and reach Costa da Caparica.

Day 3: Costa da Caparica to Setubal - Today will be full of nature and adventure! Pass by the Arrabida Natural Park in the North shore of the Sado River. Crossing the Arrabida hills you will be able to enjoy the stunning views of the park's two most famous beaches, Portinho da Arrabida and Figueirinhais. You could even enjoy the panoramic view of the two beaches at the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Arrabida. You will stay overnight in Setubal, a city with many points of interest.

Day 4: Setubal to Sines - Start the day with a ferry boat trip through the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve. Usually the ferry users are welcomed by the resident population of Bottlenose Dolphins. This biologically rich area has more than 250 avian species that can be seen during the boat trip. The Sado River region is also characterised by the number of rice fields. After the ferry trip, the cycling journey starts in the peninsula of Troia with great beaches, beautiful landscapes of the Arrabida Hills and Roman Ruins.

Day 5: Sines to Villa Nova de Mil Fontes - Enjoy the Southwest and Costa Vicentina Natural Park, the finest preserved stretch of European coastline. The day will be filled with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, beautiful beaches, small fishing villages and harbours.

Day 6: Vila Nova de Milfontes to Aljezur - Enjoy the peaceful nature with various and unique animal and plant species at Costa Vicentina Natural Park. You will reach Aljezur, a small coastal village with typical houses from the rural architecture of the Algarve. When you reach the top of the hill, you will be reminded of the historical past by the castle that's sat on the top.

Day 7: Aljezur to Sagres - Today will be your last cycling day in the Algarve region. Sagres is one of the most important areas in the Algarve in terms of its exceptionally rich heritage. Its significance to world history is tremendous and is testified by a wealth of historical events and legends. The high cliffs rise nearly vertical from the Atlantic Ocean to a height of 75 meters. Don't forget to visit the Lighthouse that sits on St. Vincent Cape and see the beautiful sunset in the southwestern point of Portugal.

Day 8 - Depart. End of program with optional transfer to Faro airport or train station.
