10 Lakes Germany Tour

A tour cycling through the unspoilt countryside of the Salzkammergut with visits to ten lakes in the area. Visits include the 'silent-night' town and the old emporer town Bad Ischl.

The tour is 8 days long and is approximately 265km long, although 7 and 9 day tours are also available on request from info@compass-holidays.com or alternatively call +44 (0) 1242 250 642. Cycling will take place on the flat routes along the banks of the lakes.There are a few climbs, but these are limited. The tour runs between April 11th 2009 and October 10th 2009. Extra nights are available on request in most of the towns along the route.

8 days, 7 nights

Day 1 - Arrive in Salzburg Day 2 - Cycle along the River Salzach to Oberndorf, the 'silent-night' town. Take in views of the lakes and valleys along the way, including Trumer and Wallersee. Day 3 - From Trumer Lake you'll travel through a nature reserve of Egel Lake to the village of Schleedorf. On to Lake Irrsee, through the 'dark hole' and an overnight stay in Mondsee. Day 4 - Take a boat to Weyregg and then cycle through Aurachtal to Lake Traunsee, Gmunden, Altmunster and Traunkirchen Day 5 - By train to Lake Traunsee and uphill to the Dachstein Ice Caves. Bike along the lake shore to Hallstatt and then stay in Bad Goisern Day 6 - Through Bad Ischl, along the Ichler Ache to Lake Wolfgangsee. Stay in the Mozart Village of St Gilgen Day 7 - You'll start with a walk to Kuhleiten and your bikes will be transported. Cycle downhill to Lake Hintersee and through the gorge Strubklamm into Weistal. Continue to the Mozart town of Salzburg. Day 8 - Depart or additional nights.
