Florence to Rome Cycling Holiday
This cycling tour from Florence to Rome leads you through the ‘green heart’ of Italy. You see the country from another angle: calm, mystical and often unexplored. On quiet roads you cycle through the valleys of the Apennines and through the softly curved hills of the Trasimeno Lake. Raging torrents, fascinating ravines and the roaming flocks of sheep shape this part of Italy. You end the tour in Rome where you should put aside your bike and explore on foot. The tour is mostly flat with some undulations and is mostly on country lanes and minor roads. Arrival every Saturday: 5th May, 26th May, 16th June, 8th September, 22nd September , 6th October. This tour is not available for July and August due to high temperatures in Italy. Day 1: Arrival to Florence

Day 2: Florence – Passignano sul Trasimeno approx. 70 km by train; 60 km by bike
Take the train from Florence to Arezzo where you can visit historic churches and palaces before cycling through the wide plain of Valdichiana. Enjoy beautiful views of the hills and mountains of Southern Tuscany. Pass Cortona, up to Lake Trasimeno, the battlefield where Hannibal fought against the Romans. Your overnight stay is in a village on the lake where you can enjoy the wonderful views
Day 3: Passignano sul Trasimeno – Perugia approx. 35 km
Cycle beside the lake to Torricella, before continuing along country lanes and through idyllic villages to Perugia. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the area including San Lorenzo Cathedral, Priori Palace the Arco Etrusco.
Day 4: Perugia – Assisi approx. 30 km
Stunning views as you cycle the purposefully short distance to Assisi, the home of St Francis. Discover this beautiful town and its cathedrals along with a plethora of historical and beautiful buildings.
Day 5: Assisi – Spoleto approx. 55 km
Cycle along the enormous “Monte Subasio” to the beautiful and unique town of Spello. Ride along the dam to Spoleto, Towns like Montefalco, Trevi and Campello are situated in the surrounding hills.
Day 6: Spoleto – Terni / Narni approx. 35 - 35 km
Leave Spoleto and cycle into a wonderful landscape of mountains as you head towards Terni. Terni is well known for it's pastry shops and the most creative cuisine in the region. In the afternoon you can visit the famous marble falls.
Day 7: Terni – Rome approx. 65 km + train
Today is more hilly than the rest of the tour. Enjoy the beautiful views as you cycle today and the calmness and seclusion of the small Umbrian town at the foot of the ‘Sabine mountains’ , before collecting your luggage and taking the train to Rome. Enjoy the city of Rome before relaxing for the night.
Day 8: Individual departure from Rome
